It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said:
“The Messenger of Allah (PBUH & His Family) turned to us and said: ‘O Muhajirun, there are five things with which you will be tested, and I seek refuge with Allah lest you live to see them: Immorality never appears among a people to such an extent that they commit it openly, but plagues and diseases that were never known among the predecessors will spread among them. They do not cheat in weights and measures but they will be stricken with famine, severe calamity and the oppression of their rulers. They do not withhold the Zakah of their wealth, but rain will be withheld from the sky, and were it not for the animals, no rain would fall on them. They do not break their covenant with Allah and His Messenger, but Allah will enable their enemies to overpower them and take some of what is in their hands. Unless their leaders rule according to the Book of Allah and seek all good from that which Allah has revealed, Allah will cause them to fight one another.’”

He said: From Banu Amir bin Sa'sa'ah, and he said: The Hour will not come until the women of Banu Amir defend against Dhul-Khalasa. He said: So we mentioned to Omar bin Al-Khattab what Abdullah bin Amr said, so Omar said three times: Abdullah bin Amr knows best. With what he says, Omar bin Al-Khattab, addressed himself on Friday, and said: I heard the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family, saying: “A group of my nation will continue to adhere to the truth and be victorious until the command of God comes.” He said: So we mentioned what Omar said to Abdullah bin Amr. "We were sitting with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he mentioned many trials until he mentioned a trial in which people should remain in their houses. It was said, “O Messenger of Allah, what is this trial in which people should remain in their houses?” The Prophet said, “It is evacuation and war. Then there will come a trial which appears pleasant. Its murkiness is due to the coming of a man from my household who imagines that he is part of me but he is not, for my allies are only the righteous who fear Allah. Then the people will gather under a man unstable like a hip bone over a rib. Then there will be the little black tribulation which will not leave anyone from this nation unaffected, and just when people say it is finished it will be extended further. During this trial a man will be a believer in the morning and an unbeliever by evening, such that people will be in two camps: the camp of faith without hypocrisy and the camp of hypocrisy without faith. When that happens, then expect the False Messiah to emerge that day or the next.”
